Darkness and Light

Here is my first effort to be more editorial in my outfit photos. It was a really fun experiment, and its something I definitely want to get better at with more practice.

We shot these in a carpark just off Ebenezer Place. The carpark has this really cool, almost post-apocolyptic feeling to it, with the modern-ish carpark encased in really old walls which are overgrown with trees and shrubs. I wish I had photographed the area better.

The idea for this shoot was darkness and light, but also to contrast the luxury clothing with a crumbled down surrounding, which contrasts its nature. Here, I am wearing my Christopher Kane woollen motorcycle jacket and my Helmut Lang dark forest print dress - an outfit I've been enjoying wearing recently. It's important to me that my 'editorials' still reflect a style that's true to me and also that some of my favourite and most special pieces get some love!

Hahndorf in Autumn

I've posted about Hahndorf before in Summer, but its also great there in the cooler months! A cold and overcast day is perfect for spending tucked in the Handorf Inn eating kranskies, sauerkraut and pretzels.

There are also a great number of deciduous trees which are beautiful to see in Autumn - suprisingly the little town was very busy despite the cold!

I teamed my beloved Acne jacket with a jumper I've been saving for a day like this from ASOS's premium line. Also wearing my Friend of Mine zigzag dress, which for some reason hasn't featured on the blog yet despite being a favourite. It's really a summer dress, but works very well for winter with a pair of tights and some layering!

Blogger Meet-up with Benefit!

On Friday night, I attended a blogger meet-up with the Adelaide Beauty Bloggers group. This event was hosted by Benefit San Francisco at the Myer One Lounge in the CBD.

This is the first time I've gone to an event with other bloggers, and everyone was so friendly and nice! I can't wait for next month's event :) The main focus of the night was a showcase of Benefit's new concealer, Fake Up; but there was the opportunity to try out most of their other products too.

Honestly, I've never really used concealer before - mainly because I struggle to find something that matches my uber white skin. To my great suprise, Fake Up in the lightest shade was a perfect match for me! It is very soft and creamy, blending into the skin seamlessly. One difference I noticed was that Fake Up has a coat of moisturiser around the concealer in the stick, which I think is what makes it so soft. Honestly, I was very impressed and it is something I will definitely buy myself!

So Goot

Another of my wardrobe newbies, I really wanted this Josh Goot skirt from the resort collection but couldn't find it available anywhere.

I origionally put an order in for another Josh Goot skirt on fortomorrow.com, but because they are absolutely pathetic at customer service (took my money and didn't ship my skirt even after three weeks), I managed to get a refund via a PayPal dispute (thank the lord) and stumbled upon this on Ebay.

Anyway, I finally had time to get a much needed haircut - not that much has changed, but I have more layering now!

Sunset in the Grove

A wardrobe newbie, I scored this amazing Dion Lee skirt on major discount - can't believe no one else had already made off with it! I paired it with a plain white top I've had for ages and my beloved Christopher Kane jacket.

There is an overgrown olive grove two blocks down from my house for some reason - its pretty much the least likely existance in inner suburbia. It's full of beautiful, ancient olive trees which I love shooting with. Mysteriously, every season the grass will get cut, but that's about it - my boyfriend suggested we shoot on our way back from uni one evening.

My favourite times to shoot are definitely early morning and evening, so I'm really pleased with the lighting of this shoot (all natural, no editing!).

Presidential Suite

I can hardly remember having a busier couple of weeks. All the lecturers seem to have decided to put all the assignment due dates in the same week and graduate job applications have been taking up so much of my time.

I've been thinking about ways to improve my outfit photos and thought that maybe making them a bit more like editorials might be cool - hopefully this is something my boyfriend and I can pull off even though we are so busy this year.

This week I was offered a job with a top-tier firm next year (which I am absolutely thrilled about as I can stay in Adelaide), but this will most likely impact on the blog next year.

As the job is in a corperate environment, I will have to wear corporate clothing but was thinking it might be cool to also post some of my work outfits in the blog too (and still have my normal clothing on the weekends)! I haven't really seen many corporate fashion blogs, so it might be something cool to try.... luckily I only have to worry about that next year (as I feel thoroughly unlike myself in a suit) and can enjoy one more year wearing whatever I want every day :)

Anyway for now, here is an old editorial-esque photoshoot my sister and I did a few of years ago (supporting the fact that I *still* look like a 17 year old kid). Hoping to do some more shoots like this because they are so much fun!

Kenji

Last weekend my boyfriend and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary. We wanted to do something special together, so decided to try out Kenji. Having never been there before, we weren't too sure what to expect but oh man, it mind-blowingly good! We've always loved Chianti Classico, but Kenji definitely gives it a run for its money ... I can't wait to go back!

It was a pretty cold evening, so I pulled out my vintage maribou feather jacket and paired it with a gorgeous silk top by Preen Line that I got from the ASOS outlet for an amazing price. It's too bad that I was wearing a jacket, because the back of it is actually navy blue and the sleeves are orange. Also the first time I've worn that Zara skirt - another one of Zara's (rare) amazingly well made items.

^ Kenji is the only place in Adelaide to offer puffer fish
^ My amazing bento, complete with sushi, sashimi, pork belly, tempura prawn and delicious miso soup.
^ Banana and chocolate souffle with tapioca cream. This is apparently their best dessert.
